Tap
In tap dance, dancers wear shoes which have been equipped with metal plates. As the dancer moves the plates click against the dance floor creating a tapping sound. Tap classes are offered to students of all levels and concentrates on teaching our dancers the ability to communicate dance though sound. It also increases their awareness of rhythm and syncopation. Tap class will help broaden their understanding of tap by teaching timeless steps as well as modern tap technique. Its fun and anyone can enjoy it.
Ballet
Ballet is the foundation of all dance. It is a classical style of expressive dancing based on precise conventional steps with gestures of movement of grace and fluidity. This style involves a great deal of technique and discipline, As dancers become more skilled in their ballet technique, they have the option of expanding their training to include pointe work which is defined as dancing on the tips of toes in specially designed pointe shoes.
Hip Hop
Hip hop is a stylised genre danced to pop music either old school or new. Many students enjoy this class as they can let go and bring the own interpretation of the style. Our programme allows students with little or no dance experience through to the most advanced dancers to participate. Hip hop classes are a great way to get together with your friends and learn new skills and because hip hop is arguably as much about attitude as it is about technique students of all abilities are sure to have fun.
Lyrical / Contemporary
Lyrical and contemporary are slightly different but each being a broad form of dance where they learn to move their body in different ways, there really is no right or wrong with this style. In class we like to watch the students let go and become their own dancer. The students will learn movements which will be either soft or hard hitting. Students will learn a routine with different timing, floor work, change of direction and balance. Lyrical and contemporary are very popular and the work and style is always changing.
Acrobatics
Acrobatics or Acro is a dance style that focuses on balances, tumbling and movements that show off flexibility and strength. Students begin each class with a floor warm up that includes strengthening and flexibility movements specifically geared for acrobatics. Each student progresses at his or her own speed, with highly structured classes for children aged 3 years and up, learning easy to advanced tricks. We have 4 different levels of acrobatics and we make sure each trick has been taught and shown correctly. Students will learn the basics tricks and technique with the help of their teacher and they should master the trick before moving on to the next. We have specialised acro mats and air tracks for safe learning.
